Quartier des Lumières

Quartier des Lumières

Located in a former industrial sector to the east of downtown Montreal, the Quartier des Lumières is part of the redevelopment of the CBC House. Resulting from a wide-ranging study initiated in 2007, the project combines rehabilitation and new construction within a mixed program. It builds on the urban fabric to strengthen connections throughout the neighborhood with a new sustainable mobility network.

The site is organized around key axes to address mobility flows and open up views towards the CBC House and the St. Peter the Apostle Church. Acting as a link between the city centre and the river, it offers a living environment that is open to its surroundings, including a business hub, shops and restaurants, as well as over 3,000 residential units.
The project aims to meet the highest standards in innovation and sustainable development through its services, facilities, and accessibility. In addition to LEED ND (Neighborhood Development) and Fitwel Community certifications, several strategies are being considered, such as adding vegetation (green roofs and interior courtyards), repurposing of underground parking and underused spaces, and the development of shared paths and connections to public transportation.
